Whole Baked Caramel Apple Fail
A very important lesson was learnt in the kitchen today. Always check the expiry on your frozen puff pastry. I didn’t even think to, probably because part of my brain truly believes that if something is in the freezer it gains eternal life… maybe not the healthiest of beliefs… but today I learnt my lesson, my Puff Pastry was out of date, so it didn’t puff and turn nice and brown in the oven, so to compensate I had to bake the apples for almost triple the time I originally intended resulting in them both exploding AND turning to mush, but on the upside, the caramel jerseys melting in their cores still smelt divine! and at least an apple wrapped in pastry isn’t too unhealthy for the chickens that scored my #kitchenfail for breakfast. I even think that this fail may have been their favourite yet!
